It Takes Shoes To Tango

2009 09 04 – Day 70 – Beijing

As someone who enjoys a boogie and having enjoyed my brief encounters with salsa, my curiosity was peaked, on a 'What's on in Beijing' type website, by an advert for tango lessons at a newly opening studio. Following a flurry of emails with the people running the studio, it seemed it would be ok for me to attend in smart-casual wear – which was the best I could do from my limited rucksack wardrobe.
The lesson was good fun and by the end of the class I thought I'd got on ok and not embarressed anyone too much with my attire when Camila, the instructor and owner of the studio, offered me some passing advice. “Next time,” she said, aiming at my feet,”prepare the shoes”... I wasn't sure if she'd noticed my sandals! :D
